Shekhar Suman is a prominent Indian Hindi film star born in Patna, Bihar. Apart from acting, he excels in singing, anchoring, producing, and directing. He has appeared in numerous Bollywood films, hosted and judged reality shows, and earned accolades, including the Best Comedian award for the 1974 film “Chor Machaye Shor.” He stands among Bihar’s most celebrated Bollywood actors.

Shekhar Suman tied the knot with Alka Suman on May 4, 1983, and they have a son, Adhyayan Suman, who is a Bollywood actor. Unfortunately, they lost their elder son, Aayush, to a heart ailment at the tender age of 11.

Shekhar Suman made his film debut with “Utsav,” opposite Rekha, a movie produced by Shashi Kapoor and directed by Girish Karnad. He has featured in nearly 35 films, including “Manav Hatya,” “Naache Mayuri,” “Sansar,” “Anubhav,” “Tridev,” “Pati Parmeshwar,” and “Ranbhoomi.”

In 1984, he made his television debut with “Wah Janaab,” where he acted alongside Kiran Juneja. His television career boasts shows like “Dekh Bhai Dekh,” “Reporter,” “Kabhi Idhar Kabhi Udhar,” “Chote Babu,” “Andaz,” “Amar Prem,” “Vilayati Babu,” “Movers n Shakers,” “Simply Shekhar,” and “Carry On Shekhar.”

He hosted “Film Deewane” and “The Great Indian Comedy Show” on Star One until February 2006 and also made appearances in some episodes of “Dial One Aur Jeeto” on Sahara TV. Shekhar Suman has also helmed quiz shows, including “Nilaam Ghar” on Zee TV, “He-Man” on Star One, and “Poll Khol” on STAR News. In 2015, he commenced hosting “Abki Bari Shekhar Bihari” on Aaj Tak.

He served as one of the judges on “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge,” alongside Navjot Singh Sidhu, but left after three seasons due to differences with his co-host. He also judged various other comedy shows such as “Comedy Circus” on Sony TV and “Comedy Superstar” on SAB TV. Shekhar Suman hosted the show “Jab Khelo SAB Khelo” on SAB TV and participated in the fourth season of the popular dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,” which aired on Sony TV.

Shekhar Suman ventured into singing with his music album titled “Kuch Khwaab Aise,” which featured a collection of eight love ballads with music composed by Aadesh Shrivastava and lyrics written by Shyam Raj. In December 2009, he appeared as a participant on the reality TV series “Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka,” based on past life regression. Suman made his directorial debut with the 2014 film “Heartless.”

In May 2009, Shekhar Suman contested the Lok Sabha election from Patna Sahib on a Congress ticket but lost to BJP’s Shatrughan Sinha, securing the third position.
